Several travel-related school board scandals caught the attention of Premier Doug Ford.
ONTARIO - The province is going to take a closer look at school board spending.
The Ford Government is planning on including the discretionary spending of trustees and other senior staff members in bi-annual audits. This comes after several travel-related scandals involving school boards in recent months.
The Thames Valley District School Board also spent roughly $40,000 on a staff retreat in Toronto, which included a stay at the hotel overlooking the Blue Jays stadium inside Rogers Centre.
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board spent $45,000 on a trip to Italy, where it spent about $100,000 on artwork.
Lambton Kent District School Board also spent $32,000 to send three staff members to an education conference in Hawaii earlier this year.
