Restaurants will be allowed to apply for outdoor patio extensions for temporary use on private property from now until the new year. The program was supposed to end on October 18th.
BRANT COUNTY - The County of Brant has extended the Temporary Patio Allowance program.
Mayor David Bailey says they are trying to help local restaurants during the fall and early winter.
"We are happy to announce this extension for our local restaurants. Our restaurants need support now more than ever and we’re hoping this program will help those restaurants who choose to participate."
The free application allows restaurant establishments in the County of Brant to apply for outdoor patio extensions for temporary use on private property from now until January 1, 2021. The program was originally scheduled to end on Sunday, October 18, 2020.
The applicants will be required to adhere to Brant County Health Unit and Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario guidelines.
Mayor Bailey says that portable heaters and winter maintenance requirements have also been added to ensure safe practices during colder weather.
"The safety of our community remains our top priority. The Temporary Patio Allowance program will provide another safe option to enjoy our fantastic Brant restaurants."
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to protect the community’s well-being and safety, staff and public will be required to follow both physical distancing and hygiene protocols.
