WOODSTOCK - The public is being asked to come out and voice their opinion when it comes to health care.
The South West Local Health Integration Network is holding a session tonight at Goff Hall to get feedback from the community.
CEO for the South West LHIN Michael Barrett says the discussion will also include thoughts about a paper entitled Patients First: A Proposal to Strengthen Patient-Centred Health Care that was put out by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care in December.
"So the paper has 4 main areas of change that are proposed: one has to do with greater equity for the population, the others relate to changes in home and community care, primary care, and a closer integration with the health units across the province."
Barrett says they want to hear first hand from the people who actually use the services.
"We really want to hear from the public in terms of what they see and are experiencing in the health care system either as a patient, as caregivers - the paper suggests a number of changes where the local health integration networks would accept a greater responsibility for home and community care, primary care, and the primary health unit."
All of the feedback they collect tonight will be taken into account as they report back to the Ministry.
"All the information and advice that we're receiving form the public we're consolidating into information we'll send along to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and then the Ministry will take those comments and that advice from the public to help inform their next steps," Barrett says.

The event is at Goff Hall from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23rd.
