WOODSTOCK - Kids in Woodstock can learn the fundamentals of movement this summer with help from the Rec department.
'Parks of Fun' will be rotating through parks in Woodstock through the summer. Supervisor of recreation programs Emma Vondervoort hopes that once kids know the basics of things like kicking, running, and hopping they will develop a lifelong love of sport.
"So we'll be teaching them these skills in a way that's easy for them to understand and in a fun and engaging manner as well as teaching the parents while they're there how to continue teaching theses skills at home."
The initiative runs for nine weeks, but Vondervoort says it operates almost like a drop in.
"So you can come to as few or as many as you'd like. We'd just like the opportunity to help develop a love for being active in your children so they can grow up to be more confident in their physical skills."
Registration is $4 and can be done online at the City of Woodstock's website or in person at the parks.
This program is geared towards kids between 3 and 8 and starts July 3rd.
