A little girl is recovering from her injuries after police stopped a potential abduction on the 401
The OPP were able to save a one year old girl from a possible abduction after chasing down a suspect vehicle on the 401.
Police were alerted about the vehicle by the Waterloo Police after the girl was abducted on Sunday night in Cambridge after a domestic incident. OPP spotted the Chevrolet SUV heading west bound on the 401 in Middlesex County late last night. After trying to get the man to pull over over several times the vehicle finally came to a rest after it hit two police cruisers at the Highway 402 interchange. The 38 year old driver from Cambridge attempted to flee on foot leaving the child in the SUV before finally getting taken down by police.
He is facing a number of charges including:
Assault with a Weapon x 2 – Criminal Code

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle x 2 – Criminal Code
Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer – Criminal Code
Abandoning Child – Criminal Code
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Cause Bodily Harm – Criminal Code
Driving While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act
Drive While Passenger Under 16 Fails to Occupy Position with a Seatbelt – Highway Traffic Act
The little girl did suffer non life threatening injuries in the crash and is recovering at a hospital in London.
