For the tenth year in a row, Operation Sharing open their doors Christmas Day.
Games, gifts, food and fellowship are awaiting those taking in Christmas Day with Operation Sharing.
Chaplain Steve Giuliano says when the event started ten years ago, approximately 80 people attended. "Last year we served approximately 350 people who attended the day long event. I've said often, this is not an event simply only for those less fortunate but also for those who might find themselves alone on Christmas Day."
The day will include games, gifts food and fellowship and will be held from 10:30 am until 3:30 pm Wednesday, Christmas Day.
Guiliano points out that there is the opportunity to volunteer as well at the event. "Volunteering some times means just coming to be a companion to others, because often times in the past, and it will be the case this year, those that are less fortunate do a lot of the work. As a matter of fact, we have people that use our other services who will be handing out gifts, so it helps breaks down the whole barrier between them and us I hope."
This year's event will be held at the College Avenue United Church in Woodstock at the corner of Peel and Wilson streets.
