The public is invited to the Woodstock Community Complex to watch Jake Muzzin and the LA Kings go for the Cup.
WOODSTOCK -- Imagine watching your son on the ice in game four of the Stanley Cup Finals -- his team up 3-games-to-none in the series.
Jake Muzzin, defenceman with the LA Kings and a Woodstock-native will hit the ice tonight in New York with mom and dad, Judy and Ed Muzzin in the stands cheering him on.
Judy says Jake is well-aware of the support he's receiving back home. "He knows and we talk all the time about the community and its support and its always been about community support to get them to where they are today and their families and their friends and everything. So, he's doing the best he can for us."
As much as mom is nervous during the games and says, especially during those overtime games, she'll pace around the house, Jake remains calm and focused. "I think he has a lot of confidence right now and he said to us, if you really thought about where you are and the 20,000 people watching and the million people watching on TV you would never step on the ice, it would be way too much. You put that aside and when it's game time, it's game time and I think they block most of that out and get to business."
The public is invited to watch tonight's game at the Woodstock Community Complex on one of three big screens. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the event is free, however donations will be collected to benefit the Alf Langdon Hockey Foundation who provide funding for boys and girls that might not have the necessary resources for minor hockey registration and or equipment.
Brad Kovachik, a Friendly City-native as well, is scheduled to be a linesman at tonight's game.
