Since 2001 Woodstock has been given over $19.3 million non-tax gaming revenue from OLG.
WOODSTOCK - Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation gave Woodstock a fourth quarter non-tax gaming revenue payment today.
Woodstock was given a fourth quarter payment for hosting Gateway Casinos. The payment was $347,091. Since June 2001, Woodstock has got more than $19.3 million in non-tax gaming revenue.
Payments are made under a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement which decides the funds municipalities receive and are based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue that is consistent across Ontario.
Minister of Finance, Charles Sousa explains what the money goes towards.
"OLG provides host municipalities with significant revenues every year which help communities invest in local priorities and infrastructure projects. These types of investments also stimulate job growth and promote economic development across the province."
The city is funding 16 organizations this spring. You can see the recent grant recipients here.
In fiscal 2017-2018, the province allocated $115 million in gaming revenue to support charities through the Ontario Trillium Foundation. In fiscal 2017-2018 the province allocated $38 million.
