Nostalgia Days Fast Approaching in Norwich

The annual festival will be taking place on Friday July 3rd and Saturday July 4th this year.

NORWICH - It's a weekend everyone looks forward to in the village of Norwich.

Nostalgia Days will officially kick off a week from today with a stretch of Main Street closed from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3rd and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th.

Victoria Body, the Secretary for the Norwich BIA, says they will have over 50 vendors this year.

"There is woodworking, baking, Tupperware, you name it! You will probably find it in downtown Norwich on Nostalgia Days!"

They will also have lots of food trucks on site including Leen's Fish and Chips, JTK Meats, and Fo' Cheezy.

Kids will be able to check out the Kids Zone on both days, and the Norwich Jr C Merchants will have a 19-plus beer garden on Stover Street for the Friday evening.

Outside of the downtown core, several events will be taking place on the Saturday. The Optimist Club and Norwich and District will host the Kids Fishing Derby at the Norwich Conservation Area from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. It's free for youth under 15 years old to participate, but they have to register before 10:00 a.m.. There will be lots of prizes to be won and there will be hotdogs and drinks available for purchase.

The popular Car Show will return to Emily Stowe Public School from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with all of the proceeds going to the Upper Deck Youth Centre. They will have a 50/50 draw, door prizes, and a Best in Show prize will be awarded.

The Norwich Legion will be quite busy on the Saturday. It will be serving brunch from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. that day, followed by the Legion Rocks from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.. The free event will feature five bands this year on the outdoor stage, and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Body says they will have an easy way for everyone to get around town.

"There's a people mover that will be driven by our Mayor Jim Palmer. I believe it goes from the Legion area to downtown and they will be going a different route than usual due to street closures."

The Stover Street/Highway 59 bridge is currently closed for construction, but you can utilize Front Street to get around the closure.
