As of September 1st, the YMCA will no longer operate a childcare centre in Norwich. The new lease wasn't to end until 2015, but the YMCA indicated it would not sign the agreement because of a drop off in enrolment at the centre. And as the town's mayor Donald Doan agrees there were very few attending. As a result of full-day kindergarten, enrolment at the Norwich facility has been on a steady decline. Doan also says there are many private sitters in the area that have affected the closure. The future of the building is still undecided.
