Despite reports of a possible flu vaccine shortage, residents in Oxford County need not worry.
OXFORD COUNTY - County residents don't need to worry when it comes to a potential shortage of flu vaccines.
Drug manufacturer GSK informed Health Canada earlier this month there was an issue with their quality control monitoring which would in term create a shortage in the vaccine.
Supervisor in Health Protection at the County, Joanne Andrews says there will be adequate supply for this year's flu season.
"Other manufacturers will be able to provide the amount of vaccine that is required and the Public Health Agency of Canada has actually ensured that there is a larger volume of supply than was available last year."
Andrews says there will be no delay in starting flu clinics.
"They will start on the same schedule as in previous years so that's mid October and they run from mid October to about mid November."
"We encourage people to get a flu shot again this year and we do encourage people to get their flu shot in the fall so they are protected when the flu season begins later in the year."
