It has now been almost two weeks since Southwestern Public Health reported a new case of COVID-19 in the region. We currently have two active cases and both are in Elgin County, however both cases are in the hospital.

We currently have two active cases and both are in Elgin County, however both cases are in the hospital and one is in the ICU.

To date we have had four institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. All four are listed as resolved. 5 people from the region have died from the virus and right now we have two people in the ICU.
The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic. Right now we have 2 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with the virus and both are in the ICU.
