The Ingersoll Nature Club got support from Ingersoll council, but not the kind they needed.
INGERSOLL -- The Ingersoll Nature Club suffered another blow after Ingersoll council shot down funding support.
The Nature club has been planning an educational event for November with notable speakers scheduled to appear but due to a lack of funding, the event may have to be cancelled.
Deb Bomans, Nature Club Secretary says they are waiting on a decision for a provincial grant, however the answer may come too late. "We're kind of caught in a catch-22 because the application has been made to Trillium as a county-wide event and not finding out until the end of October - early November it kind of puts a lot of work to have it happen and perhaps all for nots."
Even though several Town Councillors were on board with the pollination awareness event, and supported what the club is trying to do, they ultimately could not justify providing the nearly $6,000 the club was requesting.
They were also denied a crucial bid for funding from Oxford County Council as well.
Bomans touched on what this means for the events future. "We'll still have the town forums, I believe in Ingersoll and Woodstock - we're still going to move forward with that and I just guess we'll have to sit down and reconfigure and maybe do what council suggested and do it next spring."
The event set for November, that the Nature Club is trying to collect the funds for will raise awareness within the community and schools on the importance of pollination. They are accepting donations toward supporting the event.
