Zorra Township Council has approved an application that would see 1000 housing units built in the Town.
THAMESFORD - Kingwood Homes is looking to build more housing units in Thamesford.
A proposal has been approved in principle by Zorra Township Council, which would see 1,000 units built on the former Maple Leaf Foods lands. Kingwood Homes put forward the proposal, and has already constructed 115 street-fronting townhomes on Middleton Street. In the second phase, 18 singledetached dwellings, 660 townhome units, and 372 low rise apartment units in seven buildings are being proposed.
Zorra Township Mayor, Marcus Ryan says he was pleased to make the announcement, and is excited to see the growth for Thamesford.
"Now we have a transformative development that will allow us to provide a much-needed housing mix, additional commercial space, park development along the Thames River and a co-build school facility
with the TVDSB. This unique neighbourhood will be walkable, pedestrian friendly and have easy access to the new commercial core, Thamesford’s existing downtown and existing recreation amenities and services."
The development will be the largest in Zorra Township's history, and brings fulfillment to Council's vision for the brownfield project.
