Breastfeeding Buddies is a drop-in program for mothers along with their babies to receive support and encouragement. The program begins on October 11th it will run every second Friday of the month.
PERTH COUNTY - In honour of World Breastfeeding Week in October, a new breastfeeding program will be coming to Mitchell.
Breastfeeding Buddies is a drop-in program for mothers and their babies to receive support and encouragement, along with links to the breastfeeding community and resources for parenting.
Public Health Nurse Heather Kane says by allowing more access to resources, mothers have a higher success rate for breastfeeding.
"Research shows that mothers are more successful at breastfeeding and do it for longer when they have better access to local supports and information. These support programs are tools that help moms to successfully breastfeed."
The program begins on October 11th, going from 11:00am to 12:00pm, and it will run every second Friday of the month. It will take place inside the West Perth EarlyON Centre in Mitchell. Toddlers are also welcome.
The following programs will be stationed around the County:
Breastfeeding Buddies – Stratford
First Thursday of each month, 1:00 - 2:00 pm
Stratford EarlyON, 25 Waterloo St. North
Breastfeeding Buddies – North Perth
Last Wednesday of the month, 10:00 - 11:00 am
North Perth EarlyON Playroom, 955 Binning St. West., Listowel
In addition, mom's with new babies can also join the Breastfeeding Buddies group on Facebook to connect with other mothers and peer leaders. You can simply search "Breastfeeding Buddies Perth County" and request to join.
