OPAL leader Steve McSwiggan in the running for Ingersoll town council.
INGERSOLL- OPAL chairman Steve McSwiggan is ready to tackle the proposed landfill issue this time he's hoping from behind the bench.
"Well number one of course is the landfill it's a big issue with me, I've been on this for two and half years and I really want to keep the throttle on it after the election as well, I also believe I know this issue very well enough to be the point man on council.."
Although McSwiggan's main focus is on the landfill he also has other priorities to address if elected.
"I want to run because this town needs direction. This town needs a plan for its future. Like any company or business, it requires a plan, a plan to grow."
McSwiggan adds his work with OPAL for the past two and a half years as an example of his leadership of a large organization.
"The last two and half years have taught me well the potential that is within the Town borders. I intend to draw from that pool of knowledge, to push forth a plan that works for all our community members."
McSwiggan says he wants to hear from the community about what kind of concerns they have.
"Over the next two months I will roll out my ideas and plans as to where I believe this Town should be heading. I also ask you to help me understand your own thoughts on issues you feel are important."
