A 26 year-old Cambridge man drowned in the Grand River near Paris over the weekend. Brant OPP say two paddlers were thrown into the waters around 8 pm Saturday evening when their canoe capsized. One of the paddlers was able to get back into the canoe and made it safely to shore but the second man could not. Police say they located the body of Blair Riddell Sunday afternoon around 3 pm. OPP are again encouraging people to think safety first when boating or swimming in local rivers and lakes. While boating, wear a personal floatation device and if you are a non-swimmer, do not venture out into deep waters.
