The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) has issued a flood warning today as the watershed is expected to see up to 25 mm tomorrow, 40 to 50 mm on Monday and 10 to 15 mm on Tuesday.
TILLSONBURG - The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement today.
The LPRCA watershed is expected to receive 20 to 25 mm tomorrow, 40 to 50 mm on Monday and 10 to 15 mm on Tuesday.
They say the forecasted rain will see watercourses rise throughout their watershed, leading to possible flooding in low-lying areas if it occurrs.
They're warning people to stay away from ditches, bodies of water, streams, rivers and ponds as the slippery banks and cold, fast-flowing water is dangerous. Parents are also being reminded to keep their children and pets away from all of these areas.
Landowners are also advised to make sure dams, culverts, and catchbasins are free from debris and are functioning properly.
In response to this event, it is expected the water levels will remain elevated for the next several days. Staff will monitor the conditions on the watershed and update the information as necessary.
The LPRCA says their flood outlook will remain in effect until May 22nd at 12:00 pm.
