Geoff Graham of Woodstock qualified for the WPC after capturing the Canadian Amateur 9 ball Championship.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock resident and business owner Geoff Graham is still surprised he was able to win a Canadian National Championship for his favourite pastime, one that he has been playing since he was a teenager.
"I won the Canadian Amateur 9 Ball Pool Championships, basically a Canadian wide amateur pool tournament. It was very exciting, it was actually a last minute decision to enter the tournament I was able to luckily get in, the field wasn't quite full and went down to Mississauga and we won it."
Graham who was competing with players from all over the country didn't hesitate to enter the tournament and has always had a love for the game. "I started playing when I was quite young but never really took it seriously, and didn't start playing competitively until I was about 14, it was actually my first time competing."
Graham is looking ahead to travelling to the World Pool Championships in Las Vegas.
"We are currently trying to make arrangements to go! An opportunity to win a World Championship would be incredible. Pool is a very lucrative game because there is such a small edge between winning and losing. I feel my talent level is there, we just have to put it all together in that one week."
The World Championships in Las Vegas will be held from May 21st to the 30th.
