The roads will be busy this weekend, and traffic safety is everyone's responsibility.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Labour Day long weekend is upon us!
This means lots of people will be hitting the roads over the next few days to have one last summer adventure before the kids go back to school next week. Whether you're going to a cottage, spending a day at the beach or moving someone into college or university, the Oxford OPP would like to remind you that traffic safety is everyone's responsibility.
The roads will be busy this weekend, so make sure you give yourself some extra time to get to where you need to go. Officers will be on the lookout to make sure everyone is following the rules of the road and arrives at their destination safely.
A total of 214 deaths had been reported on OPP patrolled roads as of mid-August. Most of those were due to speeding, driving impaired, not paying attention, and not using a seatbelt.
The OPP is also reminding everyone to wear a lifejacket if they find themselves on the water, and a helmet if you're hitting the trails on a bike or ATV.
