Two teams with strong ties to Woodstock will face off tonight at the Ontario Scotties
WOODSTOCK - It is going to be an all Woodstock showdown at the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts this weekend.
The Tippin rink will square off with the Kean rink tonight at 7p.m. in Brampton. Tippin is actually from Owen Sound, however she curls out of the Woodstock rink and her second Rachelle Vink is from Woodstock and been a member at the club for years. Mallory Kean is also from Woodstock, however she qualified for the event at her curling club in Waterloo. Kean says so far they haven't had a ton of success at the Scotties, however the young team is really enjoying the experience.
"It has been great, everybody has been so supportive of our team, we opened with a really strong win and we haven't had as much success in the last few games but we are learning a lot and I think that's what counts for us being in our first year as team here. To be able to come here the first year together, you have to take away something from every game, so we have had a chance to spend the whole week together on and off the ice and you learn a lot about each others personalities and how to take a loss and get something out of it and take it into the next game."
Kean says they are expecting a lot of people from the Woodstock area will be coming down to the Brampton curling club tonight to take in the big game. Both teams enter tonight's game under the 500 mark and really need to string together some wins if they want to reach the playoffs.
