John Robinson Said Nothing at His Sentencing

John Robinson didn't have anything to say to the family and friends of the late Clifford Fair at his sentencing Tuesday. He sat emotionless as the victim impact statements were read. Fair's step mother Heather Meadows (on right) read her statement first and was followed by his mother Pauline Fair (on left). Mrs. Fair paused for a long moment before Justice Kelly Gorman offered to read it for her. She wiped tears from her eyes as Justice Gorman read "I long to embrace my little boy again." Her statement also talked about Clifford's only son AJ, who still doesn't understand exactly what happened to his dad. Crown Attorney Tom Meehan calls it a total tragedy: "The victim was very young. As a father, who knows what affect this loss is going to have on his son. The word tragedy gets over used but it's just horrifying to think that you can lose somebody that young. Somebody that showed up at somebody's house to have a beer." Before sentencing, Justice Gorman told Robinson that "this was a pointless, meaningless act that you perpetrated." And that "the dismembering of Clifford was an act of disrespect in the extreme." John Robinson is sentenced to life in prison with no possibility for parole for 25 years. He will serve two concurrent years in prison for the dismemberment of Clifford Fair and has 30 days to appeal this sentence.
