It is another edition of the bi-weekly interview with Warden Marcus Ryan on the Heart FM Morning Show.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has the budget on its mind.
During his bi-weekly interview with Heart FM, Warden Marcus Ryan gave an update on how their special meetings have gone. Warden Ryan says what has been presented to Council.
"So right now, the draft budget that staff has put in front of council is proposing a 5.1% rate increase. So that now is in front of council to question, to understand."
Ryan says one big item in the budget is the Oxford on the Run program run by Oxford County Library.
"They're proposing that this be made a permanent program and the vehicle be purchased. It's been run as a temporary program out of a used ambulance that we have. They're proposing this to be made a permanent program going forward."
Warden Ryan mentions other big items include the need for paramedics and ambulances, along with a proposal for an addition of $400,000 as an operating fund to address housing and homelessness.
If all goes well, the budget will be passed during the County's December 10th meeting. If you want to hear all that was talked about during the interview on the Heart FM Morning Show, you can listen below.
