Five protesters arrested at the site of Enbridge's Line 9 near Innerkip have been charged.
INNERKIP - Five protesters, four females and one male were arrested at an Enbridge site near Innerkip. OPP have since laid several charges against the five. Enbridge has filed a court injunction to end the protest. The five were arrested early Sunday after attaching themselves to concrete blocks in an effort to stop construction on the site.
Enbridge plans to reverse the flow of oil and increase the pipeline's capacity. Protestors have been at the site since Tuesday of last week saying the pipeline puts the environment at risk.
Patricia MILLS of Hamilton has been charged with:
· Obstructing a Peace Officer
· Mischief – Interfering with lawful use, enjoyment of operation of property – over $5,000
· Disobeying Order of Court
· Failure to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)
Rachel AVERY of Hamilton, Wolfgang CHRAPKO, of Guelph, Erica RATHIE, of Guelph and David VASEY were charged under the Criminal Code with the following:
· Obstructing a peace officer
· Mischief – Interfering with lawful use, enjoyment of operation of property – over $5,000
· Disobeying Order of Court
All were held in custody pending bail hearings.
