Woodstock City Council is expected to approve the funding to complete phase one of the brand new Woodstock Baseball and Recreation Complex.
WOODSTOCK - Phase 1 of the new Woodstock Baseball and Recreation Complex is expected to be finished this Fall.
The complex does not have a name yet and will be located at the former Woodall Farm location on the East end of Woodstock. Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM what will be included in the first phase.
"So the first phase will have washrooms, concession stands, parking, there will be the three ball diamonds and all of the lighting and then we will have a trail that goes around the entire property and then we will see how quickly we can get to the other items."
Council is expected to pass a motion to fund the remaining work needed to complete phase one which will cost just over 2.9 million dollars. Birtch explains some of the work that still needs to be done.
"Get electricity, get the main buildings up for what is needed in this first phase, it should be ready in the Fall and things are looking great and we are looking towards sponsorship and that is why it doesn't have a name yet, I refer to it as the North East Rec Centres."
In the future the complex could include a twin pad arena, swimming pools, playgrounds and maybe even another splash pad.
