Report coming to council to help move disposition of Tillsonburg Hydro forward
The Town of Tillsonburg is looking to move forward with the disposition of Tillsonburg Hydro one way or another.
A report is coming before council Thursday asking council for further direction on how to move the process forward.
Mayor John Lessif says no decisions have been made at this time.
"It's an information report and staff are asking for approval to move forward with what is in the package."
Lessif says the report comes at the request of council.
"No decision has been made who to sell it to or whether it will be a sale or a merger. This report that is coming to council is for council to give further direction to move this process forward."
Staff is also asking that council authorize the hiring of appropriate experts in the area of legal, financial and communications to help with the disposition.
Lessif says he was happy to read the disposition would be an open process.
"We very much respect transparency and having the integrity of any actions of council and council has directed staff to ensure it be an open and transparent process as much as possible respecting privacy of information as we go through the process. That will obviously have to be respected."
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday starting at 4:30 in Town of Tillsonburg Council Chambers.
We will have an update on the meeting Friday morning in the news.
