Huron Street residents are sharing concerns about the application to structure more residential homes in the area.
WOODSTOCK - There is a proposed development for the Huron Street area.
The plan includes building two single family homes and a series of 26 condominiums.
Woodstock Mayor, Trevor Birtch says the neighborhood is speaking up.
"It's a good example of the public being heard. They came out to the Monday night public planning meeting and they also came out to the gallery for the city council meeting. The decision of council is to have site plan control over this application to make sure the vegetation is protected and that the fences and everything is agreeable for all the neighbours."
Birtch says one of the residents concerns has already been met.
"One of the property owners of the neighbouring property has a legal, conforming chicken coop within the city. They meet all of the current by-laws and they have been there undisturbed for years. If this development goes ahead they would be too close to residential."
Birtch says the property has been grandfathered, so if the development goes ahead, the individual would be able to keep the chicken coop.
He says the site plan will look at several issues to make sure there is nothing undesirable for the neighbours.
"They will be looking at the traffic, the tree lines, the way the cars headlights would project into other neighbours yards. They are looking at the snow melt, so when you have a townhouse complex and all the snow gets pushed to one corner, how is it going to melt and how is the water going to flow."
The development would be structured around where the former Ste - Margeurite Bourgeoys school was.
