The Hunter Weston Memorial Toy Drive has raised over $75,000 worth of donations for the Children's Health Foundation over the past few years.
WOODSTOCK - Donations are now being accepted for the third annual Toy Drive in Memory of Hunter Weston.
Nolan Petch, Hunter's cousin, started the Toy Drive after Hunter passed away from cancer.
A birthday parade took place in 2021 after Hunter passed away, and the toys that were dropped off went to the Children's Health Foundation in London. Tarnya Petch, Nolan's mother, says they now collect donations every year.
"Hunter's birthday is December 18th, and we try to drop off the toys in or around his birthday, in memory of him. Then the kids on Christmas get to open presents."
Petch says the support is overwhelming in the short time this has taken place.
"This is our third year. In the first two years, Nolan has been able to donate over $75,000 in cash and toys to the hospital."
This year, both Woodstock Starbucks locations have a drop-off spot, there is an Amazon list, and on December 15th there is an event with the Woodstock Navy Vets, where new unwrapped toys or money can be brought and donated.
All the information about the Toy Drive can be found on the 3rd Annual Hunter Weston Memorial Toy Drive Facebook Page.
Petch called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Friday November 10th. You can listen to the full interview below:
