Fire Marshal's final report on Victoria St. blast not being released to the public.
Heart FM has learned the final report is complete on the Victoria St. explosion, the fatal blast that shook the community on the morning of March 27th, 2011.
But after contacting the OFM on Friday, they say the report is only available to the former tenants of the building, at their request.
We've submitted a Freedom of Information request to see the report.
Lawyer Sharon Strosberg, who is leading the class action lawsuit for the former tenants has also requested the report along with all the material from the OFM and police investigations. "We have booked some tentative discovery dates in the spring, but it's very important information here that the Fire Marshal has, so we're raring to go to see what's in those reports."
It's not just the OFM's final report Strosberg's legal team is seeking. "The defendants and all of council are going to appear in Windsor before Justice Patterson in February. We're asking the court to permit us to see all the investigation by the Fire Marshal, and if any as well by the police."
The class action lawsuit seeks $5.5-million in damages from the property owner, and could be widened to included the manufacturers of appliances in the building, depending on the contents of the OFM report.
Two residents of the building, 73-year-old Margaret Gillett and 79-year-old Bill Watmough were killed in the explosion that also left close to 100 homeless.
