Norwich residents no longer have to turn to Google for their health information.
NORWICH -- Residents in Norwich now have a one stop shop when it comes to information about Health services available in their Township.
Norwichhealth.ca was launched early this month with the idea coming out of the Township's Health and Wellness fair last year.
Norwich Township Manager of Medical Services AJ Wells says the Health and Wellness Advisory Committee noticed there was a gap in information about the services available to residents in the Township.
"People didn't know exactly what they needed and didn't know exactly where to look. If they go to Google or something like that and type in 'Health Resources' they would get so many hits and wouldn't necessarily know what was reliant, what wasn't so we tried to pair that down and put it in one central location."
Wells says while the site is directed at Norwich residents, other Oxford residents will find it useful as well.
"Since the Township of Norwich is relatively small and we don't necessarily have all of the health resources within our boundaries we did expand it to, okay, if I need information on Alzheimer's, where is the nearest Alzheimer's office? or the nearest Alzheimer's contact."
Wells says often times when people are looking in a phone book or online, there is conflicting information so this website is a way to help make decisions easy and accurate.
Wells says the Health and Wellness Advisory Committee wanted to make sure everyone had a plan should a medical crisis occur.
The site was designed by the grade 11 computer students at Rehoboth Christian School in Norwich.
