TAVISTOCK - A ribbon-cutting event is taking place at Renaissance of Tavistock.
With support from the Future Oxford Legacy Fund and Zero Waste Oxford, the Renaissance of Tavistock condominium is officially announcing the installation of green-cone food digesters to help divert organics from its waste stream.
The ribbon-cutting event also includes a presentation and will be held today from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Renaissance of Tavistock, 199 Hope Street East.
The green cones will keep an estimated 3.5 tonnes of food waste including peels, meat, bones, and other organic material from the landfill in its first year. Green cones can liquify a range of organic materials that backyard composters cannot, offering a more environmentally friendly way to manage organic material on site.
Community Futures Oxford is one of 60 Community Futures Development Corporations in Ontario and 269 across Canada, they provide access to capital, deliver programs and services to assist small businesses, and support community economic development in Oxford County.
