The best lottery season in 6 years as the 12 Days of Christmas Lottery raised more then $33,000.
WOODSTOCK - The winner of the most successful year yet for the 12 Days of Christmas Lottery was announced on Monday.
Lee Bruch is now $10,000 richer as he was the lucky winner. He received a call saying that he had won the prize and had actually forgot he had the ticket. His mom actually got him the ticket for a Christmas present and once he got the call he went looking through presents and cards and found the winning ticket. However, the money raised this year was astounding with $33,800 being raised from the lottery's ticket sales. Chris Cunningham, Executive Director at the Southgate Centre has more on how the community was so involved in making this year the best.
"The lottery has completed it's 6th season and this year has been the best yet. We sold 1,863 tickets and we were able to set a new record for sales and sponsorships. That's a lot of money and that's a lot of tickets."
Cunningham explains how Bruch found out he won.
"Lee actually received his ticket as a Christmas gift from his mother. So he was a little shocked when he got that call, Dan Henry made that call. Lee had recalled seeing a ticket but didn't really paid it much notice so, after the call he went back into his Christmas gifts and opened up his Christmas card from his mom and low and behold there was the winning ticket."
All money raised from ticket sales will be going back into the Southgate Centre and help improve their services.
