Goodwill Moving

Woodstock council allows Goodwill Industries to move to the former location of Holy Trinity Church.

WOODSTOCK- Woodstock city council approved a decision to allow Goodwill Industries to move from their current location on Dundas to the former location of Holy Trinity Church. Demolition of the church is expected to happen within 6 months.

The plan required an amendment to a zoning by-law to allow the property for use as not only the donated goods retail store, but workplace training facility as well.

"We will have a training room ... we will have a store obviously and a donation centre and our docks," says Chief Operating Officer for the Great Lakes, Scott Louch.

Louch adds the larger property will allow the store to use transport trailers to service the site, and is good for the surrounding economy.

"We currently employ at our existing store around 18, and we're hoping to employ around 45 at our new location."

He says this employment opportunity often helps those in need to gain necessary experience to progress to other employment avenues.

The facility is expected to be around 15,000 square feet and will be constructed within a year's time at 900 and 904 Dundas Street.
