Like free adventures? The Geo Adventures app may be the best thing you've discovered in awhile.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County is giving you an opportunity to win great prizes, just for visiting local attractions.
Users of their new Geo Adventuring app can check-in at their favourite destinations to earn points for the contest, as well as share their adventure with their friends through social media or write a review of their experience.
County Tourism Specialist Meredith Maywood says once you get an account, you can go to the Store page to read about the available prizes.
"For getting an account, that gives you a reward of 50 points. From there, as you check in at all the different places we have available for you to visit in Oxford County, you earn more points. With each different level, you get entered in to win more prizes."
Maywood says the prizes include some great rural getaways with prizes being handed out each month.
The app is designed to help all rural communities connect with the global economy.
"People aren't necessarily aware of the great things available in their backyard or they just haven't taken the time to explore them. Using this tool allows you to find some unique spots you may not be aware of that you can have a really good time."
Maywood says the app has been working very well since it was launched as a pilot in Oxford County in 2013.
"There's television screens that are up in some of the restaurants in Stratford and we are getting promotion through there with people watching the videos encouraging them to come out and see everything available in the County. It has raised our profile as well. As they have been going around and promoting the app, they have been using us as the demo community."
For more information on the app and to enter the contest visit geoadventuring.com
The contest runs until the end of September.
