After undergoing renovations, the Wellington Animal Hospital is hosting an open house and fundraiser.
WOODSTOCK - The community is invited to the Wellington Animal Hospital for their open house and fundraiser this weekend.
Registered Veterinary Technician and organizer, Alyssa Fries says there will be plenty of activities that people can enjoy.
"We're going to be having some face painting by Mrs. Sarah Face Painting from town here. We'll be having teddy bear surgery for the kids, they can bring in one of their teddy bears that maybe is ripped, we'll also be having teddy bears here for them. They can put bandages on them. Dr. Dennis, who's also the owner of the practice, as well as a veterinarian, will come on in and if she needs to she'll suture one of their teddy bears up."
The building has not been renovated since the 1970's. Fries says the inside of the hospital has been given a more modern look.
"We completely gutted the reception area, the front of the building. We have left all the original brick exposed on the one wall. We've put in new lighting, new roofing, although everything has been replaced. We have brand new desks."
The animal hospital will also be doing a fundraiser in support of the Salvation Army, accepting pet food and hygienic items for those in need.
Fries says the open house is a great opportunity to learn more about their facility.
"I just think that it's a great way to get to know your community, get to know us. Raise awareness for animals and different risks that are out there that can also be spread to humans, as well it's a fun thing for kids to get involved in and learn what it could be like to be a veterinarian or a registered veterinary technician."
The open house is free to attend on March 23rd and it goes from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
