Flu shots will become available in Perth County to vulnerable residents starting on Monday.
The Perth County Health Unit is reminding everyone to get their flu shot this year.
Typically influenza season in Canada runs from November to April. Flu shots will be ready for high risk individuals, seniors and kids starting on Monday. Everyone can get a flu shot at the following locations:
- Family doctor’s offices – ages 6 months and over
- Pharmacies across Perth County – 5 years of age and older
- Drop-in community clinics at Spruce Lodge (643 West Gore St.) in Stratford – ages 6 months and over
- Friday, October 26: 10am-4pm
- Thursday, November 8: 10am-4pm
- Clinics by appointment at the Perth District Health Unit in Stratford and Listowel – for children under 5 and their families:
- Stratford (653 West Gore St.)
- Thursday, October 25: 3-8pm
- Thursday, November 1: 4-8pm
- Thursday, November 8: 4-8pm
- Tuesday, November 20: 4-8pm
- Listowel (135 Main St. E., Unit 103)
- Monday, October 29: 3-7pm
- Tuesday, November 13: 3-7pm

Kids between the ages of 2-17 have the option of a FluMist nasal spray this year. FluMist is available through your family doctor’s office, some pharmacies, and at the clinics at Spruce Lodge and the Perth District Health Unit. However, quantities are limited and based on vaccine availability.
To protect against the flu and help stop the spread of influenza in the community, the Health Unit advises all residents to take these precautions:
- Wash hands with soap thoroughly and often
- Cough or sneeze into your sleeve
- Keep surfaces and items disinfected
- Stay home if you are sick
- Get a flu shot.
