Flood Watch Issued for UTRCA

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is advising members of the public to stay away from all bodies of water over the next couple days.

OXFORD/MIDDLESEX - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch.

The snowmelt continues throughout the region and the UTRCA says we could be in for about 10 milimetres of light rain today.

It's not predicting any serious flooding at this time but we could see some flooding in low lying areas such as the St. Marys Flats, and Harris and Gibbons Parks in London. The South Thames in London will likely hit it's peak before the North Thames River.

The flood control reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock Conservation Areas are currently at seasonal levels and officials will continue to keep an eye on the situation.

The UTRCA is also advising that you stay away from all bodies of water. The water levels will be elevated going into the weekend and the banks next to rivers and creeks can be very slippery.

The flood watch was issued yesterday afternoon and it should remain in effect until Monday March 15th.
