Oxford County OPP are hoping to educate the public about the dangers of Fentanyl and opioid drug use tonight in Princeton.
PRINCETON - The Princeton Museum is hosting a Fentanyl and opioid information session from the Oxford OPP and Blandford Blenheim Police Services Board tonight.
Detective Constable Chris Auger of the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit will provide the public with an update on what prescription drugs are currently being sold on the street and to the public. He will go over the current dangers and life threatening consequences of purchasing these drugs.
Inspector and Detachment Commander Tony Hymers on why these information sessions are important.
"Fentanyl has become a common word we hear on the news and in our everyday lives. I hope the citizens of the Oxford County are able to come out and learn about this life threatening drug that can affect all of us"
Constable Stacey Culbert says Fentanyl and opioids are very much a problem in Oxford County right now.
"Fentanyl and opioids are a hot topic right now, it's something you hear whenever you turn on the news and we have to realize it is affecting Oxford County."
Culbert talks about what people might learn at the information session.
"They will learn how just a normal every day citizen can help us in doing the prevention of this drug ending up in our streets and ending up in their family and affecting them through addiction or even overdosing."
The free event is happening tonight from 7:30 to 9 pm.
