Manitoba MP Candice Bergen will lead the Conservative Party of Canada until a new permanent leader is selected.
OTTAWA - Candice Bergen has become the interim leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.
The Manitoba MP was elected by her fellow MPs in a secret ballot last night.
The Conservatives decided to remove Erin O'Toole from the leadership position yesterday following a 73-45 vote. He will continue to be the MP for the Durham riding.
Bergen will lead the party until a permanent leader is selected. This will be the third leadership race for the federal Conservatives since former Prime Minister Stephen Harper stepped down in 2015.
