East Zorra Tavistock Council has voted against holding a public meeting regarding a potential boundary adjustment with the city of Woodstock.
East Zorra Tavistock Council has voted against holding a public meeting regarding a potential boundary adjustment with the city of Woodstock.
Out of the seven councillors; 1 stated a conflict of interest, 3 voted for the meeting and 3 voted against. Deputy Mayor Maureen Ralph was one of the councillors who voted against the meeting. She believes the township has already been quite generous.
"East Zorra Tavistock has been involved in the past in the three previous boundary adjustments with the City of Woodstock and I believe their have been somewhere in the area of 1900 acres that have changed hands between East Zorra Tavistock and the City of Woodstock. I feel that we have been very generous in these negotiations and dealings and that we have certainly done our part and so at this time I think maybe some of our neighbouring municipalities may be able to seize that opportunity."
This most recent boundary adjustment focused on 1,000 acres of land located along a western stretch of Highway 2, between 10th Line and 11th Line.
With council voting against the public meeting, Ralph says the boundary adjustment discussions have officially come to an end.
