Woodstock, As It Was will feature pictures and postcards of the Friendly City, showcasing current and previous landmarks.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Museum and the Oxford Historical Society are getting ready to show you the city of Woodstock as it used to be.
The event titled Woodstock, As It Was is a chance to look through a collection of pictures and postcards courtesy of Don Wilson’s private collection, showing some of the current and previous landmarks of Woodstock.
Executive with the Oxford Historical Society, Catherine Spears, says the focus of the event will be on their collection of postcards.
"We have about 6,000 postcards available that the public can access and they span all across Oxford, but we're focusing on Woodstock this time because of the Streetscape Master Plan coming up."
The Streetscape Master Plan was originally discussed and approved by City Council back in October of 2022, with advancements as well as portions of funding approved back in March earlier this year.
Some of the landmarks in the city set to be included in Woodstock, As It Was range from Museum Square, the Hotel Oxford, the Capital Theater, Patullo Fountain, Southside Park and much more.
Director of the Oxford Historical Society, Eleanor Gardhouse, says this is only the first event planned to come.
"It's a series, so the first one is going to be a little bit about the history, by looking at old postcards of Woodstock. Then maybe another time in another month, it'll be about Norwich Township."
The event is set to be held on Wednesday, May 29th with a 6:40 p.m. start time, and will be completely free to attend for the public.
