It's a little early for a Christmas story, but Woodstock Council and the Downtown BIA have been doing some early shopping. On Thursday night, council approved spending up to $13,000 to help the BIA refurbish its lighting displays. That includes the wreaths and snowflakes you see lining the downtown. Many of the LED bulbs are losing their lustre, and BIA Manager Kelly Morrison says it's time for a new look. "They were custom made in 2006, and since then we've got our lighting out of them, if you will. But a lot of the LED lighting is dulling or burned out. LED lighting has advanced so much in six years as well, so we're able to re-light them with a much brighter, more efficient product that will see them through another five to six years easily," said Morrison. The BIA is spending 7-thousand dollars from its own funding to help spruce things up.
