The Woodstock Salvation Army says they are $40,000 behind on their Christmas Letter Campaign

WOODSTOCK - The Salvation Army Christmas Letter Campaign is $40,000 off their target this year. 

Director Community and Family Services Vanessa Giuliano says time is running out. "I think my main concern is, if people have donations that they would like to give to us and they would like their 2014 tax receipt, they have to get the donations in to us before December 31. Anything that comes in after that will unfortunately have to be on their 2015 taxes." 

"We deal with our Christmas campaign and then it goes throughout the year," continues Giuliano. "We have a health and wellness program, we have a transportation program. We help with rent and heat and hydro. Obviously we have our food bank. We've had some things crop up where people have needed blood pressure machines, or they have needed those ultra violet lights because some people suffer quite badly in the winter months, we have helped with medications. That money goes to all of that."

Not all programs are behind, in fact the Kettle Campaign is on track. 

"We have been very  visible and that has enabled us to reach our target of, I think about $70,000 on our Kettle Campaign which covers our entire Christmas and everything we had to do for that."

400 Christmas Hampers were also handed out Monday which Giuliano says is a decrease from last year. 

"I can see that the need was still there, it was just lower and I congratulate those people that didn't have to come and use us this year. It means that things are looking up for them or that they have realized that they could possibly manage and that is just wonderful!"
