The Woodstock Legion is giving VON a very generous donation for their Meals on Wheels program.
VON Oxford has received a $5 000 donation from the Woodstock Legion's poppy fund for their Meals on Wheels program.
Catherine Dorais-Plesko is the Manager of Fund Development with VON Oxford. She tells Heart FM what the organization plans to do with the donated funds:
"We'll be able to purchase new baskets, new heaters, thermometers and those kinds of things that we actually put the food in to bring to our clients. As well as general operating funds for the whole program."
Meals on Wheels is just one of the many programs that VON offers.
"We have programs that range from caregiver support, to respite and visiting programs," Dorais-Plesko explains. "Meals on Wheels falls under our meals and nutrition program. We have safety checks, exercise programs and fall prevention. We also have clinical programs like blood pressure clinics and we also have our residential hospice program at Sakura House".
Dorais-Plesko says the official cheque presentation will be coming up soon.
"It will be taking place on Wednesday March 9th at 11am at our VON Oxford Office located at 550 Ingersoll Avenue. It's just going to be in the lobby and we're going to have members of the legion as well as our board, staff and community area people who want to attend".
