Dog Bite Investigation in St. Thomas

Health officials would like to track down a dog that allegedly bit someone in St. Thomas over the long weekend.

ST. THOMAS - Southwestern Public Health is investigating a dog biting incident in St. Thomas.

Officials say a blue merle Australian Shepherd bit someone at the corner of Fairview Ave and Elm Street on Saturday. The victim was rollerblading at the time, and it's believed that the dog bit their right leg when the owner walked by.

The dog is described as having medium-length grey fur with patches of black and dark blue. It also has a patch of white fur on its chest, bright coloured eyes and it looked like it was overweight.

Officials would like to track down the owner of this dog to make sure it's up to date on its vaccines, to make sure the victim doesn't require rabies treatment. Anyone with information should call Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and ask to speak with a Public Health Inspector.
