People may notice more hunters carrying firearms in the coming weeks as deer gun season begins.
Deer Gun hunting season in Perth County is coming up.
The season only runs from December 5th until the 11th. Perth OPP are reminding the public that they may see people in fields or along roadways handling firearms. Constable Mike Melnychuk says they do not want to see any tragic accidents during the season.
"No loaded firearms on the roadway, which is the law, and you only shoot at your target when you are sure of your target and what's beyond it."
Motorists also need to be award that deer may be more prone to crossing highways during the hunting season. Melnychuk explains why they want to get this message out to the general public.
"So it's to make people aware of the fact that there will be people handling firearms in the ditch areas and the fields and just so people are made aware of what's going on and why there is more hunting activity going on."
