OXFORD COUNTY - An alternative to the High Speed Rail has Oxford County Council's stamp of approval.
They went over a report titled SouthwestLynx: Integrated High-Performance Public Transportation for Southwestern Ontario at their meeting Thursday night.
CAO Peter Crockett says it has solutions to a lot of the transportation issues; one of which is right in our own backyard.
"In the area between Paris and Woodstock, it identified an area where a twinning track could provide a huge opportunity to increase the capacity of the south rail corridor for both freight and passenger."
Crockett says they would like to join it with a smaller transportation system.
"We're proposing that there be an effective intercommunity transportation system that would allow mobility between the small, rural and urban settlements across Southwestern Ontario that connect to each other as well as the other rail corridors."
