Over $101, 000 is being given to local not-for-profit community groups through the Community Grants Program
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock will be handing out a combined total of $101,687.50 to 18 local organizations through their Community Grants Program.
The program was created to benefit non profit clubs and organizations through the city.
Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM more about the program, which uses funds from OLG Slots.
"We have a special committee that reinvests those funds into special projects, service clubs, and groups around the city that are doing special activities that help make it a great community for everyone."
Here is a complete list of all of the clubs and organizations receiving funds:
Big Brothers Big Sisters: $10,000
Calvary Church: $2,500
Canadian National Shuffleboard Association: $1,238
STEM Camp: $2,000
Lawn Bowling Club: $2,000
Oxford Historical Society: $1,000

Woodstock Agricultural Society: $10,000

Each of these organizations had to fill out an application beforehand. Birtch tells us about the process.
"People fill out these applications; you do have to be a non profit group. Then the committee, which has been appointed by council with representatives from the community as well as a city councillor, will decide which ones meet the criteria and recommend to council for approval."
The city will be accepting more applications for the Community Grants Program this coming fall.
