Cold Weather Alert

Alert issued after forecast calls for temperatures of -18 or -29 with the windchill

Locals planning on spending time outdoors are being reminded of the dangers of frost bite and hypothermia.

This comes as the County issues yet another Cold Weather Alert with temperatures expected to drop to -18 but feel more like -29 with the wind chill.

According to Public Health warning signs of hypothermia include shivering, exhaustion, confusion, fumbling hands, memory loss, slurred speech and drowsiness.

Signs of frostbite include a white or grayish-yellow skin area, skin that feels unusually firm or waxy, and numbness.

Locals experiencing any of these symptoms are encouraged to get medical attention.

County officials are reminding residents the Inn Out of the Cold homeless shelter is open nightly from 7pm until 7am at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, 723 Dundas Street, Woodstock.
