Chilly Charlie will make his prognostication at 8:10 a.m.
WOODSTOCK - February is fast approaching, which means Chilly Charlie is getting ready to emerge from his burrow.
South Gate Centre will be hosting its annual Chilly Charlie Prediction Breakfast on Groundhog Day this coming Monday.
Executive Director Chris Cunningham says the delicious meal will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. that morning.
"We have pancakes and sausage with your choice of bacon, you got your coffee and there is always orange juice too. If you want something additional we do have fruit and some other things. For those who don't do sausage and pancakes, there are other options and we even have gluten free pancake options."
It costs $6 for adults or $3 for kids and they will have take out options available for those who can't stick around. Breakfast will be served in Altadore Hall, but those who attend will be able to take their food into the new expansion and enjoy it in the Toyota Lounge or Boughtflower Hall.
Cunningham says everyone will eventually head outside for Chilly Charlie's big moment.
"It is usually just after 8 o'clock when we have the prognostication. It's a quick piece filled with fun and silly shenanigans and we predict whether we'll have an early spring or continued winter."
If Chilly Charlie sees his shadow, we'll have another six week of winter, but if he doesn't see his shadow, we'll have an early spring. Charlie predicted an early spring for 2025 and 2024, but he did call for an extended winter in 2023.
Chris Cunningham called the Heart FM morning show to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday January 28th. You can listen to the full interview below:
